2018 off to great start
Over 30 anglers turned out for Open Day
Leighton Reservoir off to a great start for the 2018 season
Saturday was cold but dry and bright, over 30 anglers gathered at this year’s opening day. The catches were spread out from the dam wall down to under the bridge. Many anglers catching a good number of trout.
Double figure trout were a feature of the weekend’s bags:
S. Greenwood had 3, a 10.2lb, 7.4lb and a 6lb and went on to return a further 4 between 4lb and 7lb
G. Sowerby kept an 8.5lb, a 10.5lb and a 2.5lb and returned over 20 ranging from 2.5lb to 8lb
B. Morgan had success with a Damsel and Orange Fritz, bagging an 11.6, a 7.12lb and a 5.1lb and returning 2 over 10lbs.
D. Molloy returned 2 over 3lb and kept and 12lb and a 4lb
J. Pollard had a 4lb and a 10.7lb and returned 11 more the largest 14.5lb and the smallest 9lb.
S. Peel netted an 11.1lb, 4lb and a 3.8lb and returned 4 more; he was using a Dawsons Olive
M. Brown got 2 fine trout over 6lb
M. Nuttall returned a number of trout including a 12lb and 2 10lb using a Dancer
Mr Young returned 13 trout between 4 and 8lb, his largest taken was 11.12lb he was using an Apache and GHGRHE.
P. Ellis returned 23, largest 15lb and at least 4 doubles
It would seem that all the hard work that goes into stocking the reservoir by the Team was well worth it. It was really good to see so many Happy Anglers!
