ANGLING UPDATE: Bessy Beck It has been a long time since the beginning of Covid, many of our lives have changed due to the Corona Virus, and life is different for all of us. We hope that you and your family and friends have managed to keep safe and well during these very difficult times.
BESSY BECK NEWS JANUARY 2022
A bit late, but Happy New Year to all our customers. Hopefully everyone has stayed healthy and are looking forward to 2022.
Bessy Beck is open all year and 2022 has been quite busy already. The weather has been very mixed with unseasonal highs and freezing lows. We are trying hard to keep the lakes fishable, and during the cold still nights the aerators are managing to keep a lot of the water ice free. It is advisable to phone before coming, especially if it’s been frosty.
We are stocking on a regular basis and along with the 2-2.5lb fish we have been adding in a number of larger trout, some which have been caught and returned. January has seen a few new anglers who we hope will become regulars after good catches on the day. Remember if you are on a fish ticket, anything over 5lb has to be returned.
The self-service ticket system is working well; tickets are either in the booth on the car park or in the angler’s room. Please make sure that you complete a catch return, this helps us keep Bessy Beck stocked about right. PLEASE PLEASE use the NET DIP, it’s a great big green bin in the car park, just dip your landing nets in to help keep any nasties away from our lakes.
Traditional winter flies like blood worm, cat’s whisker and black snake are all effective along with dawl bach and black buzzers these all seem to be on the menu. Barbless hooks only to be used at all times.
We are open every day except Mondays
Closed Mondays, including bank holidays
All the best for 2022
