There are plenty of good interesting walks close to Bessy Beck.  Smaredale gill takes you down the disused railway line, sheltered and full of wild flowers and butterflies.  A trek up Green Bell is well worth the trip for all the fantastic views you get.

Easter 2008 we opened B's, a tea room offering home made soups, light snacks and delicious cakes and scones. We have catered for large and small groups, walkers, cyclists, fishermen and people just passing through .Of course the menu offers delights from our own smoke house, trout fillets smoked  in several different woods, smoked trout pate served with warm crusty bread, smoked trout cakes set on top of fresh stir fried vegetables. A firm favourite with the fishermen is our all day breakfast,

The tea room is nestled just below the Island lake, on a warm day you may wish to sit outside and enjoy sampling our menu. 

Of course we offer a range of baguettes filled with delights from our smoke house, trout, salmon, chicken, duck or pheasant.  Warm toasted paninnis full of cheese and red onion marmalade, tuna melt, smoked duck and redcurrent jelly, all mouthwateringly delicious. Our homemade cakes and scones are just too good for words!!!  Fresh baked scone with jam and cream, perfect.....

Ever thought of having your Birthday or celebration party at our beautiful spot? we can cater for small or large groups, We can offer a fishing party or a party  gathering with good food.  

B's was named after our beautiful long lived labrador, Bea.  We were lucky enough to have had her for over eighteen years. You can see a photo of her hanging on the main wall.

Childrens parties

Fishing for rainbow trout in the Heron lake then having a meal in our tea room is an increasingly popular way of spending a birthday. Not only for the children, we have had 40th and 60th birthday parties.

All tackle is provided and one of our staff will help throughout the fishing session, success is almost guaranteed.

Special celebrations

Private parties of up to 60 persons can be arranged. You dont have to be anglers to enjoy our lake side venue.
