End July/beginning August report
Hi folks, hope that you are enjoying the wonderful summer! There are both positives and negatives to this exceptional heat. Great to be able to plan garden parties and know that you will not get rained off, but the lack of water in the reservoir is not so good for angling. Although having said that, the catch returns are looking ok:
Mr Thwaites returned 8; Mr Broad returned 14 between 2.5lbs and 4.5lbs using Black Fritz, Olive lures, and Spiders. Mr Snowdon kept a 1lb, 2lb and a 3.5lb and went on to return a further 12 up to 2.5lb. Eric Carmichael had a great day, returning 21; his preferred flies were a Blue Flash Damsel and a Black Zonker. Mr Holmes netted 2 at 2.5lb. Mike Rawson returned 7 which were between 2 and 3lbs. Mark Hammond returned 5 biggest being just over 4lb. Mr Mondal used a Cats Whisker to attract his 11 and Ken Nattrass used a White Fry and a Dry Sedge to land his 15, the largest being 4lb
It will be the Lowther Show weekend 11th and 12th August, it’s a great country show with lots of angling stands and loads of great displays in the arenas. Get yourselves along for a really good event. We will be there on the fishing row, in tent 7, pop in for a chat.
By now a few of you will have met Michael, he is our new assistant replacing Debs who has left to work on the West coast of Scotland. He is settling in well, and fishes quite a bit, so you may see him on the bank.
Thanks again for fishing with us, and hopefully the season will just get better and better. Of course, it goes without saying, we are continuing to stock so there are plenty of fish to go at.
