Angling Report - June 2010

1st June; Frank Vaughan caught and released 14 fish including his largest fish of this season at 12lb 8oz using a Daddy.

Unsettled weather and East winds are affecting catches, at quieter times fish can be seen rising to Alders, Midge and Daddy Longlegs. Imitative flies are being more successful than lures.

There are no weed problems at Bessy Beck this year .

7th June; Frank Vaughan has another good catch, 16 fish using Buzzers and Dries.

As summer progresses vary small flies will be more effective, F flies down to size 18 and very small buzzers will do best.

17th June; Mr Steel had a good catch of 9 fish in difficult sunny conditions using a small buzzer. Later that evening as the sun was going down, local angler Darren Frances caught and released 15 fish with two estimated at 10lbs. He was using a brown sedge.

19th June; John France caught and released 11 fish in a short morning session using a Humungus lure. Fishing the same day Mr Carter from Newcastle caught 12 fish to 8lb 2oz using a small Fritz fly. Alan Weeks from Sedbrough caught 10 fish using buzzer.

Robert Cameron with 3 fish, largest 6lb 4oz from a total of 17 he caught on Sunday 20th using Buzzer and Damsel. 

22nd June; Frank Vaughan caught 15  fish to 15lbs using a small red buzzer.

24th June; The weather is very hot and sunny yet Chris Doyle from Penrith caught 14 fish using buzzer.

25th June; Thomas Graham from Frizington fished in the evening to catch 8 fish on small Dawl Bach. 

27th June; Jim McGinnley caught and released 12 fish, Mr Maiden from Kirkby Stephen had 4 fish to 7 lbs and Ernie Craster caught 13 fish in very hot and sunny conditions.
