Angling Report - April 2010

 

2nd April; Mr Turner caught 10 fish on Dawsons Olive.

4th April; Buzzer and Blodworm did the trick for Jeff Thorn from Bishop Aukland, he had 13 fish to 8lb 6oz. On the same day Graham Kennerly caught 10 fish and Dean Taylor 11 all on Buzzers.

The fish- off for the Watendlath Troutmasters took place at Bessy Beck on the 7th April. The winner was Tom Clayton with 12 fish he also caught the largest fish of the season so far at 15lbs.

9th April; Simon Robinson and Bill Scott practicing for the CEFF competition caught a total of 35 fish on a mixture of flies.

 

The Airflo Classic/CEFF Competition took place at Bessy Beck on the 12th April. The individual winner was Simon Robinson with 17 fish, second was Glenn Appleby with 13 and third was Trevor Wadds with 10. The team winners were Stonebridge Triple A's with 27 fish.

 

Mid April, fish are now seen rising during the warmer parts of the day. Suspender Buzzers and Klinkhammers are now catching fish.

 

16th April; in a short evening session Dean Taylor caught 13 fish on Buzzers.

17th April; John France caught his largest ever Rainbow at 12lbs in a catch 10 fish using a Black Buzzer.

18th April; Greame Bell had a great day using CDC suspender buzzers he caught 30 fish to 7lb and many fish between 5 and 6lbs. His son, fly fishing for only the second time caught 10 fish. On the same day Bob Cameron had a 11lb fish.

21st April; Chris Little with his first two fish of a 4hr session weighing 7lb and 8lb, both were caught on a Damsel Nymph.

 

 

23rd April; Manchester angler Howard Barlow caught and returned 23 fish to 10lbs. using a veriaty of flies. On the same day Tony Taylor caught 20 fish using a Black Buzzer.

28th April; Robert Hopper caught 18 fish to 8lbs using Bloodworm.
