Angling Report - March 2010

 

Early March, ice continues to be a problem in the mornings but has all gone mid day. 

Wednesday 3rd March; Fish taking well after some morning ice, Robert Hopper caught and released 11 fish to 10lb using a small bloodworm, Mr Moorehead caught 12 on an Olive fritz, and Tom Clayton caught 8 the largest being 8lb.

Saturday 6th March; Mr Smith from Blackpool caught the largest fish so far this month, 11lb 7oz on a beaded nymph.

Wednesday 10th March; Simon Robinson, practicing for the CEFF competition at Bessy Beck on the 14th April caught and released 23 fish using a veriety of methods.

Sunday 14th March; Glenn Appleby caught  13 fish using bloodworm, 4 of these were over 8lb.

Wednesday 17th March; the ice is on longer a problem, we are now back to proper Bessy Beck weather, wet and windy.

 

The Bessy Beck Troutmasters fish off was held on 20th March in very wet and windy conditions. The winner with 9 fish was David Mordue, joint second were David Warwick and Kevin Young with 8 fish. Most fish were caught on Intermediate lines and the best flies were Bloodworm patterns.

Note; Bait fishing on the Heron lake finishes at 6.00pm.
