Angling Report - August 2009

Fishing has been varied due to the changable weather conditions and weed has been a problem on occasions. Evening fishing has been best with good hatches of Sedges and some good fish have been caught.

Local Gamekeeper Garry Shepherd had a 14lb fish one evening using a Sedgehogg, Frank Vaughan from Preston caught a 13.5lb Rainbow using an Olive Damsel and Alan Wilkinson from Barrow caught the biggest fish of the season at 14.5lbs also using a Damsel.

Ian Rose had a good catchone day using a small Black Buzzer. 13 year old Lewis Hurst from Staindrop caught 10 fish in a short session also using a Buzzer.

Other successful flies have been Hares Ear Nymph and dry Daddy particularly on the Mallard Lake.
