As we approach the third week in September, water temperatures are dropping significantly and as the algae disappears the water clarity has returned.
Fishing has improved dramatically and fish are now taking dry fly throughout the day, daddy longlegs being the most successful. Black buzzers as always continue to catch fish and as there are still damselflies around the lake, their nymphs are a firm favourite.
There have been many double figure catches, for example David Carne had one session catching eleven fish the largest being 8.5 lb. on a black buzzer. Alan Entwhistle from Fleetwood had a fish estimated at l5lbs and local angler Philip Walker had one of l2lbs.
Bessy Beck trout fishery will be open until the 4th January 2005, then close until 1st February 2005.
