November saw Bessy Beck affected by ice on a number of occasions making angling difficult. Clear and bright days discouraged fish from taking. On one occasion Alan Entwhistle broke the ice and managed to catch a number of fish. 12 year old Bradley, a regular fisherman at Bessy Beck, followed Alan to the lake and caught a 6lb rainbow from the same spot.
Since the end of November the lakes have been free from ice and fish catches have improved considerably. There were some notable catches, mainly on bloodworm. Tony and Dean Taylor had 30 fish between them on one short visit. Dean landed a 10.5lb rainbow on another visit. Tom Clayton and Robert Hopper had 12 fish each on Zonkers.
Peter Appleby had 22 fish on the 11th of December using his famous apps bloodworm, an outstanding catch considering the conditions. Arnold Patefield fished for a couple of hours one afternoon and caught 13 using black buzzers.
We are looking forward to lengthening days which will encourage more anglers out to fish. Please call before your visit to check lake conditions 015396 23303.
We wish all our customers a Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Happy New Year.
Regards Shelley and Ian
