The lower water temperatures which have been seen over the past couple of weeks has increased the catch rate at Bessy Beck.
One of the benefits of the past warm temperatures has been that the fish we are stocking with are rather bigger than usual, and with them having plenty of natural fly life to eat all fish are in very good condition.
The rainbows are still up for the dry flies. There seems to be a hot spot mid afternoon and early evenings. The best flies this month have been Dawson's olives, small Klinkhamer and small Hairs Ear nymphs.
The successful anglers this month have been Arnold Patefield who caught and returned 24 and 21 on successive visits. Peter Crowe from Darlington caught and returned 17 fish under bright difficult conditions. David Warwick had the biggest fish this month 6.12oz on his favourite fly the yellow dancer. The weather is unseasonably warm which should help fishing over the next month extending the dry fly fishing.
Maybe see you at the Guns and Tackle show next week?
