Angling Report - May 2006

Mid May 2006

Bessy Beck is now at its best with fish feeding throughout the day on midge, Hawthorn fly and May fly. Climatic conditions have been perfect, a combination of sun, rain and a little wind have resulted in fish taking well but sometimes selectively. For experienced and inexperienced fishermen, this is as good as it gets.

A number of fish around 10lbs have been caught this month; the largest 11lb 4oz was caught by Bret Thompson on a small black buzzer.

David Mordue caught 37 fish in one session the largest was 9lbs, all on bloodworm.

In a short afternoon session Arnold Patefield caught 23 rainbows to 8lbs on dries.

David Warwick caught 30 one morning on a Bibio.

The best flies this month have been

Dry; Black Klinkhammer, Olive Klinkhammer, and  Hawthorn fly.

Buzzers; Black, Black/ Orange.

Lures; White Dancer, small gold head Cats Whisker.

Evenings are now going to be popular with anglers; an evening ticket is available from 6 pm to 9.30pm when sedges will be most productive.

High attendance is making booking essential to avoid disappointment, particularly at weekends.  Tel 015396 23303 to book, or email enquiries@bessybeck trout.co.uk
