Angling Report - September 2007

Mid September 2007

The wet weather that has plagued us for most of the summer has now given way to dry and sunny conditions. The steady high pressure and settled conditions are allowing fish to form feeding patterns which has not been possible for most of the year.

Dry fly fishing has been the most effective by far. Daddies, black and brown sedges and black midge patterns have done best.

Morning and evenings have seen fish rising continually but they have been quite selective with anglers willing  to change patterns and particularly sizes of fly being most successful.

Dean Taylor caught 13 in one short session using dry fly and small buzzer combination.  Frank Vaughan used a variety of different dries to catch 17 in one outing.

We are now looking forward to October and some of the best Rainbow trout fishing in the cooler conditions when buzzers and small lures will come into their own.
