Location

Bessy Beck Trout Fishery is situated at the foot of the Howgills near to the Lake District and Yorkshire dales where the fish farm produces some of the best rainbow trout in Cumbria.

Angling at Bessy Beck

 

The fishery has angling for all abilities with easy and safe access.

The Island Lake provides a challenge for the experienced fly fisherman, with trout stocked from 2lb to 15lb it is the only lake where catch and release is allowed.

The Mallard lake is another Fly Fishing Lake where all fish caught must be killed, these cooperative 1.5lb fish make it the ideal lake for newcomers to fly fishing or for those who wish to take a few home for the pot.

The Heron Lake is for families, children and those who dont want to fly fish. You can hire tackle and bait and catch a number of pan sized rainbow trout.

Angling Tuition at Bessy Beck

At Bessy Beck we have two fully qualified licensed angling coaches; this enables us to provide fly fishing instruction for complete beginners and lessons for improvers. Our speciality is Trout fly fishing but we also offer Salmon fishing instruction. We offer guided river fishing for brown trout, sea trout and salmon, this can be linked with accommodation in the area.

Bessy Beck Smokehouse

For a number of years our smokehouse has produced trout smoked using various woods, more recently we have extended our range to include, smoked salmon, smoked chicken, smoked duck and smoked pheasant.

All these products can be purchased from our Farm Shop, from Farmers Markets or a select number of outlets.

Bessy Beck Farm Shop

The farm shop, its now bigger and better than ever.  Offering  milk, cheese, bread and many other goodies.  Fresh trout and smoked products from the  smokehouse and Bessy Becks  famous fish cakes, smoked trout pate and smoked trout sausages are all available.  Also saddleback pork, sausages, gammon, and pork and apple burgers.

B's Tea Room at Bessy Beck

Opened in April 2008 it provides tea's and coffee's, light snacks and mid day meals. It is popular with anglers for their morning bacon buns and families visiting Bessy Beck 

Just the place to sample our own fresh trout or smoked products or fresh local pork.

Bessy Beck Fishing Tackle Shop

Bessy Beck has a well stocked tackle shop for the game fisherman, there is tackle for the lake and river trout angler as well as equipment for the local salmon enthusiast. Beginners fly fishing starter kits are a speciality.

Products from Guideline, Wychwood and Lureflash are stocked along with a wide range of flies from a number of suppliers. All can be purchased from the shop and on line.
